Hopefully by now you've taken advantage of the excellent weather and started that all important prep work for the 2012 season. Don't forget two important prep events for upcoming Thursday night racing season: PHRF sign-up night on Thurs. April 26 and the annual Skippers' meeting on Thurs. May 10. Both events take place in the JYC main hall commencing at 1830.
Snipe Racing to Begin
Time to start thinking about Snipe racing again! The first planned race is Tuesday, May 29th. Idea is to race in Collins Cove (the cove south of the mooring field that is dry or nearly dry at low tide) with a 7PM start. This should give everyone plenty of time to get there after work, and the sun doesn’t set until after 8PM so we can get at least 4-5 races in. Every other Tuesday starting on the 29th the tide will be high or high enough for racing. Format would be same as what we did for frostbiting once around a windward leeward course with upwind finish. There are still a bunch of details to work out, but we’d like to know who would like to race. If you're interested, email Roger Kuebel:
